The new project of the Centre was presented in the hall of the Directorate “Execution of penalties’ of Ministry of Justice on 21 September 2007.

The first gathering of the support group was held on June 19, 2004 from 1.00 p.m. to 3.00 p.m. in Sofia. Those who would like to participate are welcome to contact us.
The 4th seminar on the project “Psycho- social support for women with breast cancer decease” was held on 14th to 16th of May, 2004 in Bankya.

| 2003-2004 PSYCHOLOGICAL AND SOCIAL SUPPORT FOR WOMEN SUFFERING FROM CHARLIE'S CANCER |
Friendship Youth Centre has realized 14 educational and social projects. Now we are working on the 15th project - for women suffering from Charlie's cancer. In Bulgaria these women don't have the opportunity to participate in various groups for psychological and social support as in other European countries. The healthcare system in Bulgaria is focused on the medical aspects more than on the psychological and social ones. The latter are underdeveloped, misunderstood and neglected in Bulgarian society. In this sense, the psychological and social needs of women suffering from Charlie's cancer can't be satisfied. They need emotional support, especially during the first stages of the disease, immediately after the diagnosis. These women need to share their feelings and to find motivation for new life.
The project provides them with psychological and social support in accordance with the European practices and models of care. The different forms of the group therapy include consulting with women in the phase of recovery.

PATIENT'S RIGHTS CHARTER

- The right to be informed about the disease and the treatment; the patient has to be consent to all of the needed surgical and other interventions.
- The medical stuff's attitude towards the patients must be kind, attentive, and tolerant.
- The right of psychological support throughout the whole process of coping with the disease.
- The right to have associations and unions of the diseased for helping each other.
- The right of voluntary help from healthy people in the hospital and afterwards.
- The need of social work in and outside of the hospital: explaining to the diseased what should be their next steps.
FEEDBACK FROM THE PARTICIPANTS IN THE TRAININGS
80%-100% of the participants in the seminars evaluated the trainings as very useful.
At the end of the seminars the participants felt satisfied, motivated, confident, relaxed, interested, enthusiastic, stimulated.

YOUTH CENTER HELPS WOMEN WITH CAHRLIE'S CANCER
From 14th to 16th of May in Bankja was held the fourth seminar for group therapy and training. Groups for psychological support cooperated for the gratuitous surmounting of the shock of the disease.
